Air Techniques, Inc., a U.S. manufacturer of air compressors, vacuum pumps, film processors, intra-oral cameras, air abrasion units, and other dental equipment is associated with Dürr Dental, a major dental equipment manufacturer in Germany. Dürr Dental has manufactured and sold amalgam separators in Europe for over 10 years.

Air Techniques has made Dürr Dental Amalgam Separators available for testing, however, they have not been marketed or promoted for sale in the United States.

The Dürr 7800 can be installed at the outlet of an air/water separator in a dry system or at the outlet of a water ring pump in a wet system. It is of major advantage to the dentist that this unit is installed at the outlet rather than on the vacuum side of the pump.

With the use of water savers, no more than one separator will be required in the average dental office. Changing the collection container, which can be done by office personnel, should not be needed more frequently than once each year.

The Dürr 7800 meets all of the European amalgam separation standards. It is certified by TüV to remove 96% of the German Amalgam Sample.
